Anything! Basically no restriction exists with the selection of your name. The intention should be to register a domain name that indicates your service and which contents could be found there. The registration of country names and city names as well as under other Toplevel domains of relevantly well-known supplies is only admissible after previous inquiry.

The name should have a connection to your Internet supply. It is not the responsiblity of smartdots™ to register a variety of key terms or to protect the names of relevantly well-known Internet pages or competitors.

> I already have my own domain. Can I register a free domain  from smartdots™ anyways?
Yes. This has the added advantage that you can get additional visitors, since domains  from smartdots™ are supported by almost all search engines, and you can also submit your sites to these engines, when registering for this domain. It is not the responsibility of smartdots™ to get advantages with the registration of several domain names - especially with the registration of particular numerous key terms.

> Is the domain really free, or does it have hidden costs?
Yes! Their domain is absolutely free to you. No information concerning your bank account etc. is needed. No costs arise with the creation, modification, useage or deletion of your domain name.

> Will the domain remain free?
Yes! Your domain will remain free no matter what, guaranteed!

> Does the domain always belong to me?
Yes! The domain belongs to you for as long you want, as long as you get at least one visitor within a three month period, and the rules and Terms of Service are being upheld by you.

Please always make sure to give a valid e-mail address under which you are also attainable.

> Will advertisement be shown with the access of my domain?
No! You are not required to show advertisements when your domain has been accessed, and no forced-ads will be shown!  However, if you wish to support this service, you may always enter your domains’ administration area and allow the insertion of an advertisement into your home page. There is, however, no obligation to show ads! Should you choose to show no advertisements at all, the service is still free to use!

> Can the domain be accessed with or without the "www" prefix?
Yes! With or without the "www" prefix, your domain will still be accessible. Whether the browser displays  http://www.your-name.net.tc or http://your-name.net.tc will point to the same place.

> How do I register a domain?
You can sign-up for a domain by simply filling out the registration form. Upon registration, you will receive an e-mail in which your registration becomes confirmed.

> How long does the registration take? When is my domain attainable?
Immediately! The registration itself is fully-automated. Your domain is instantly accessable, worldwide!

> Can I point my domain to a directory or a certain file?
Yes! Your domain can point to any directory or file within your site.

> Can I link directly over the domain to a certain directory or file, e.g. http://www.my-name.net.tc/picture.gif, although "picture.gif" is located at my provider?
Yes! With PathForwarding you can point directly to a certain file or directory.

> What sort of sites may I link to with my domain?
Anything! You may link to any site with your domain, so long as it does not violate any international or federal laws and does not break our Terms of Service. "Spamming" -- illegal publicising of your homepage -- is illegal, however, and such actions will lead to the immediate deletion of your domain.

> Sign-up  step for step:

1. Register for a domain name for free.
2. If you have no homepage yet, create it (them) and transfer the files to your webspace. If you do not have any webspace, ask your internet service provider if they provide any. Most of them do provide advertisement-free space for their customers. However, there are also plenty of free space providers on the internet, such as fortunecity.com.
3. Enter your domains' administration area with your domain name and password, and within the "Target URL" field, enter the actual address with which your page can be accessed. (for instance: http://www.your-provider.com/user/your-user-name/yourfile.html)
4. Finished! Now each visitor to your site will be pointed to your actual long-url through your domain name. If a visitor visits your domain from smartdots™ on your homepage, he does not see the actual target URL in the browser address bar; instead, only your domain name from smartdots™ is displayed!
